Ariane Fuechtner
Somatic Experience Practitioner
Physical and mental ailments are often consequences of chronic stress and trauma. Trauma may result from a wide variety of stressors such as accidents, invasive medical procedures, sexual or physical assault, emotional abuse, neglect, war, loss, birth trauma, or the corrosive stressors of ongoing fear and conflict, or even just strenuous life events that happened too often, too quickly or too suddenly.
I am trauma therapist and expert for nervous system regulation.
I mainly work with Somatic Experiencing (SE)®, a holistic resource- and body-oriented approach for the healing of traumatic and chronic stress. It is the life’s work of the internationally recognized trauma researcher and therapist, Dr. Peter A. Levine.
SE facilitates the completion of self-protective motor responses and the release of thwarted survival energy bound in the body, thus addressing the root cause of trauma symptoms. This is approached by gently guiding clients to develop increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions.
The goal of SE is to restore the body’s natural self-regulation and, as a result, transform and heal the symptoms experienced in the body.
I am a German native and a Psychotherapist (HPG); I provide psychotherapy in English and German. Prior to finding my calling as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I worked as a jeweler, arts manager, communications consultant and intercultural management trainer and coach, both in Germany and the United States.
